Big changes are coming to UK road taxing this year, and time is running out to avoid the higher costs. Are you aware of what they are and how they could impact you? The clock is ticking, and Hendy are here to ensure you're fully informed and ready to make the best decisions for your new electric vehicle.
Electric vehicles (EVs) bought and registered after 1 April 2025 will no longer be exempt from road tax. Don't wait until it's too late - read on for all the key details and make sure you're prepared before the deadline!
Taxation will vary depending on the type of EV that you own.
· From 1 April 2025, the tax will be £10.
· From the second year onwards, the tax will be the standard rate of £195.
· You will pay the standard tax rate of £195, starting from the first tax renewal after 1 April 2025.
· These vehicles will be assigned to the first band with a VED value, starting at £20.
· Most electric vans will be taxed at the standard annual rate for light goods vehicles. Keeping up with the current rates for these vehicles is advisable.
· New electric and zero-emission vehicles registered on or after 1 April 2025 with a list price exceeding £40,000, will be charged the standard rate, plus an additional expensive-car supplement for the first five years, starting from the second licence period.
