At Hendy Ford, we were thrilled to see the New Puma named as What Car?'s Car of the Year for 2020. The dynamic SUV took top honours at the consumer motoring magazine's 43rd annual awards, and also scooped the 'Small SUV' accolade at the glitzy ceremony in London.
Ford has revived the Puma name for this new model, which features EcoBoost Hybrid technology to deliver impressive fuel economy and noticeably lower CO2 emissions figures. Roelant de Waard, Vice President at Ford of Europe Marketing, Sales & Service, commented on the accolade:
"It's a great honour for the Ford Puma to be named as What Car?'s Car of the Year for 2020. We're all excited to see the return of the Puma name on a stylish and dynamic small SUV that reflects today's customer aspirations."
What Car? Editor Steve Huntingford said:
"As a small SUV, the Ford Puma competes in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the car market. Crucially, it also excels in all the areas that are important to buyers, according to our research. Thanks to its sharp handling, gutsy engine and clever mild hybrid technology, it offers a mix of fun and frugality not previously seen among its competitors. Plus, it's as practical as it is stylish. In short, the Ford Puma is truly outstanding."
With its confident stance, ample space and powerful-yet-efficient hybrid powertrain, the New Puma is bound to impress. What's more - this sporty SUV recently gained the maximum five-star rating in the final round of Euro NCAP safety testing for 2019, with an Adult Occupant Protection of 94%.
The Puma was not the only model in the Ford range to perform well at the awards. The Fiesta ST was named Best Buy (Less Than £25,000) in the Hot Hatch category, the Galaxy was Best Buy (More Than £30,000) in the Multi-Purpose Vehicle category, and the Ford Ranger was the Best Buy (£27,000 - £32,000) in the Pickup category.
